Deborah Anne Sommer is the Assistant Deputy Chief Paramedic and Thirty-seven-year emergency medical technician with twenty-seven years as a public servant for the Chicago Fire Department.  Vast experience in direct patient care including multiple commendations for outstanding care and compassion.  In her career, she is has served as Paramedic Field Chief, Ambulance Commander, Deputy Chief Paramedic HQ Relief, and Paramedic in Charge.

Superior supervisory skills including acclimating new candidates to the Chicago Fire Department and mentoring paramedics to prepare to successfully enter the rank structure of the Department.  Excellent leadership in a variety of volunteer and positional roles demonstrating strategic visioning, coaching, team building, and maximizing human and departmental resources to provide outstanding service to the citizens of Chicago.

Debbie displays a great passion to serve the community and have worked tirelessly to raise safety awareness in local neighborhoods. Because of her efforts, she received a number of awards and commendations listed below.
