TECHNOLOGY – IT TRANSITION

TechnologyIf you want to know how to effectively changes careers to the field of Technology, tune in to this podcast! This amazing speaker will share his experiences on how he transitioned from an Assistant Manager to an IT Business Developer working with 3rd largest IT company in the country.

Through his love of helping businesses align with the right technology to successfully navigate the ever changing IT jungle, Cedric works at Ntiva, the 3rd largest IT Managed Service Provider in the country. After graduating from UMUC with a Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity in 2013, he transitioned into the IT field. Prior to working in the IT field, he was an Assistant Manager at Giant Food. This made the transition very challenging since he had no prior background in the field of IT or Cybersecurity. His successful transition came through performing countless mock interviews articulating industry knowledge with friends in the industry, Googling articles on the latest industry trends and of course looking at the website and history of the companies he had interviews.

Cedric currently lives in Vienna, Virginia. In his spare time he enjoys golfing and playing music. While he can be found sitting in playing piano or keyboards with local groups, he is most often seen performing with his group called “Strayhorn Jazz.” The name Strayhorn is well known throughout the jazz world because of Billy Strayhorn who composed for Duke Ellington. Cedric aspires to keep the Strayhorn name alive within the jazz world and is currently working on the 1st CD to be released by Strayhorn Jazz titled “Stray Thoughts.”

Cedric has had several past accomplishments that have helped mold him into the person he is today. In 1990, Cedric had the privilege of being selected by the PGA Tour to be an intern. He worked at the corporate office and TPC Sawgrass located in Jacksonville, FL. In 2008, he successfully published and launched Doctor of Dentistry Northern, VA Magazine. This publication highlighted the outstanding Dentists of Northern Virginia. Cedric became the first African American publisher of a magazine of this kind. His ability to connect with people from all ethnic and educational levels has been the major key to his successes.

Cedric is always looking for ways to share his successes and challenges with others, especially youth. If he can help someone have an easier pathway to success, then he considers that mission accomplished.
